Why did Germany BID TO HOST the 2006 FIFA World Cup™?"You couldn't ask for a finer or more exciting gift than being allowed to host a World Cup finals tournament, so I didn't hesitate for a single second when I was asked to take on the role of chairman to the bidding committee. We offer a first-class environment for the World Cup: perfect infrastructure, huge enthusiasm for football with more than 10 million spectators at Bundesliga matches every year, and high-quality tourist attractions. But above all else, we'll construct and extend fan-friendly stadia for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, fulfilling every modern requirement in terms of comfort, safety and media technology."
